
Dragons Outscore Brown 22-15 For First Conference Win

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Drexel wrestling opened its conference slate on Friday night in dominant fashion, outscoring Brown 22-15. The Dragons took home wins in six of 10 weight classes for their first EIWA victory of the year.
Drexel got off to a hot start with Parker Kropman and Evan Barczak leading the pack. Kropman opened the meet at 157lbs and took an early 4-0 lead over his opponent, Mason Spears, and never looked back. Barczak gave the Dragons a strong 7-0 advantage shortly after with a dominant 11-1 major decision.
The Bears widened the gap to 13 with a forfeit at 174lbs, leaving James Araneo (184) to record the first points of the night for Brown in a tight 9-4 battle with Josh Stillings.
Santino Morina swung the momentum back in Drexel's favor at 197lbs, holding on to a three-period lead for his second career win.
Despite a last second loss for Eli Anthony at 285, Kyle Waterman picked up a big win at 125lbs, securing a 6-4 victory with 30 seconds left in the third period. Antonio Mininno followed suit with a last minute 4-3 decision victory at 133lbs, clinching Drexel's first EIWA victory of the year.
The Dragons are back in action tomorrow afternoon for a 5 p.m. matchup with the Binghamton Bearcats. The match will be streamed live on ESPN+.
