400 Medley Relay Team Wins Gold at Day Two of CAA Championships

CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. -The Drexel women's swimming and diving team finished day two of the 2022 Colonial Athletic Association Championships in fourth place. The Dragons earned three medals Thursday night, including gold, silver and bronze.
Maddie Riley started the finals in winning fashion. The junior finished the 500 free in 4:53.51 and won bronze.
Three Dragons advanced to the A final of the 50 free after having quality preliminary swims earlier in the day. Lera Nasedkina won the silver. Her time of 22.47 is a B-cut time for the NCAA championships. In addition to winning the silver, Nasedkina swam a 22.31 in the preliminaries to break the program record. Chelsea Gravereaux placed fourth with a time of 23.07, while Victoria Palochik was eighth with a time of 23.44. Ryann Styer won the B final to place ninth, with a time of 23.45.
The 400 medley relay team collected Drexel's first gold medal of the championships. Gravereaux, Fede Nocera, Megan Sicinski, and Nasedkina dropped six seconds off their preliminary time and posted a final time of 3:40.05 to finish in first and defeat second place by half a second.
The championships continue on Friday with a 10:00 a.m. start time for preliminaries. Diving will follow at 12:30. Finals are scheduled for 6 p.m.
