Dragons Fall in a 13-6 Battle with Navy

PHILADELPHIA – No. 15 Drexel women's lacrosse closed out its four-game home stand with a tough loss to Navy on Tuesday afternoon, 13-6. The Dragons rallied in the fourth quarter but couldn't gain enough momentum to surpass a consistent Mids offense. This is DU's first loss of the year as they drop to 3-1 overall while giving Navy its fifth win.
BOX SCORE BREAKDOWN
First Quarter – Drexel 0, Navy 4
Navy's offense caught fire early with four unassisted goals in the first 15. The Dragons forced their way into the zone several times, recording 10 total shots in an effort to put their first score on the board.
Second Quarter – Drexel 1, Navy 8
Bednarik gave the Dragons their first goal of the day on an unassisted effort in the 10th minute. The Mids offense answered back with four goals of their own to take a lead into the half.
Third Quarter – Drexel 2, Navy 10
Allison Drake tried to kickstart Drexel's offense coming back from the half. The junior attack opened the third quarter with a goal, closing the gap to six. The Dragons were able to hold Navy to their smallest scoring margin of the day in the third. Navy held onto an eight-goal lead heading into the final 15.
Fourth Quarter – Drexel 6, Navy 13
The Dragons found their groove in the fourth, sinking a game-high four goals on three assists. The duo of Lucy Schneidereith and Drake were the first to find success, netting Drexel's third goal on a one-two punch in front of the net. Grady and Hayleigh Simpson followed in a similar pattern, opening the door for Simpson to then grab a solo man-up goal of her own. Claire Jarema and Harris scored Drexel's last goal of the day in the final two seconds of the game, closing the final gap to seven.

The Dragons will head to Baltimore, Md. for their first road game on Sunday. Drexel is set to face No. 20 Johns Hopkins at 1 p.m.
