Dragons Lose Second Half Battle Against Johns Hopkins

BALTIMORE, Md. – The Dragons took on their second ranked opponent on Sunday afternoon, losing a tough battle to No. 20 John Hopkins, 11-6. With the loss, the Dragons drop to 3-2 overall.
BOX SCORE BREAKDOWN
First Quarter – Drexel 2, Hopkins 2
The Blue Jays came out firing, scoring the first goal in the opening two minutes. The Dragons took advantage of a Hopkins turnover forced by Maura Cissel in the eighth minute, scoring a quick one-two goal from Harris on a feed from Bednarik. JHU answered back with a second goal, but Bednarik added a goal of her in the final minute to tie the game at two.
Second Quarter – Drexel 5, Hopkins 3
DU took the advantage in the second, battling to its third goal of the day from Lucy Schneidereith at the halfway point. Molly Weygand found a loose ball opportunity in front of the Blue Jays net on the Dragons next possession and fired away for her second goal of the season, expanding Drexel's lead to two. The Blue Jays answered back with a goal, but the dynamic duo of Harris and Bednarik struck again, giving Drexel a 5-3 lead heading into the half.
Third Quarter – Drexel 5, Hopkins 6
Hopkins commanded the third, sinking three unanswered goals to take a one-point lead into the fourth quarter.
Fourth Quarter – Drexel 6, Hopkins 11
The Blue Jays continued their streak into the fourth, adding five more goals for their largest lead of the day. Harris sank her second goal of the day on an unassisted effort in the fifth minute to move the Dragons back within five. Drexel pressed the Hopkins zone in the following minutes but couldn't swing the momentum enough for a victory.
