Dragons Erase Two-Run Deficit to Defeat Towson, 6-2

PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel softball team defeated the Towson Tigers in the first game of the three-game series on Saturday afternoon, 6-2. The Dragons (14-7, 2-1 CAA) took the lead in the fourth after trailing to the Tigers (10-18, 0-4 CAA), 2-0.
Brooklyn Daly (7-2) pitched the 33rd complete game of her career on Saturday. The senior held Towson to two runs on four hits.
Kristi DiMeo went 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. The graduate student also drew a walk in the effort.
Grace Abbonizio went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Abbonizio's single in the fourth inning pushed in Drexel's winning run.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Tigers doubled and singled in the first inning to score their only two runs of the game.
Megan Trivelpiece hit a single to right field in the bottom of the fourth and scored DiMeo from third. Angelina Sanchez then took the next pitch and grounded out to second base. Ashley Errico scored on the play to tie the game at two. The Dragons took the lead after Abbonizio singled up the middle and scored Ameryn Humble. Drexel had a 3-2 lead at the end of the fourth.
In the bottom of the fifth, Drexel used a pair of singles by Humble and Savaanah Garcia to extend its lead to 5-2. DiMeo singled down the left field line and scored Drexel's sixth run of the game in the bottom of the sixth.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Dragons continue their homestand and close the series against Towson on Sunday, April 3. Drexel and Towson will play a doubleheader starting at noon.
