PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel men's soccer team, seeded fifth, are set to face the fourth-seeded Delaware Blue Hens in the quarterfinals of the CAA Men's Soccer Tournament on November 2 in Hempstead, N.Y.
The Dragons, who clinched a playoff spot in their match against UNCW on October 14, had to wait until the final minutes of conference play to see where they would be traveling and who they would be playing in the first round of the conference tournament. Hofstra locked up the top seed on Saturday by defeating Northeastern, 2-1. As a result, the Pride will be the host to Drexel and Delaware in the quarterfinals and will play the winner in a semifinal match on November 5.
Delaware punched its postseason ticket on Saturday after defeating Charleston, 2-1. The victory locked the Blue Hens into the fourth-seeded spot despite having the same conference record as the Dragons, 3-2-3, due to a tiebreaker involving the Pride.
The match on Saturday will be the second time that the Dragons and Blue Hens meet this season. The two teams met on October 7 at Vidas Field and played to a 3-3 draw. Action from Hempstead, N.Y. is set to start at 4 p.m. on Thursday. All tournament information can be found here.
