Women's Lacrosse Returns to Vidas for Senior Day Against Monmouth

PHILADELPHIA - The Dragons close out the regular season on Saturday at Vidas Field. Drexel is set to face CAA opponent, Monmouth for Senior Day and will honor their eight graduates post game.
About the Dragons
Drexel is 11-4 overall and 4-2 in Colonial Athletic Association play. The Dragons are currently third in the CAA and with a win will clinch a spot in next week's CAA Championships. Drexel has been victorious in its last four games against three conference opponents.
Corinne Bednarik leads the Dragons with 39 goals and 19 assists for 58 total points this season. In addition, the senior has picked up 30 ground balls and earned 61 draw controls. Defensively, sophomore Jenika Cuocco has been dominant in the cage. She currently is second in Division One with a .539 save percentage and is in the top 12 in goals against average (8.75/game) and saves (151). This past week, Jenika was honored as the CAA Rookie of the Week and IWLCA Co-Defensive Player of the Week.
Following the game, Drexel will be honoring eight student-athletes who have brought the program to new heights. Callan Fritsch, Lindsey Dean, Hayleigh Simpson, Maura Cissel, Saundra Godshall, Grace Harding, Peighton Bement, and Hannah Close will be recognized. This group has led the Dragons to a pair of NCAA tournament and CAA Tournament appearances and earned the program's first CAA title last season against Towson.
About Monmouth
The Hawks are 9-7 overall and 3-3 against their conference rivals. Caroline Brennan leads MU with 36 goals and 19 assists for 55 points. Behind Brennan, Mya Brock and Cassidy Orban have 28 goals and double-digit assists. In goal, Gia Mitchell has started 15 games for Monmouth and has recorded 155 saves and a .378 save percentage this season.
The Series
Monmouth is a new addition to the CAA for 2022-23 and will be competing for the first time as conference rivals against the Dragons. Drexel has the 5-3 advantage in the series and has won the last three contests. DU was victorious 16-11 in the teams' last matchup on March 18, 2018.
