MACON, Ga. – The Drexel softball team finished its time at the Mercer Heart of Georgia Classic on Sunday afternoon. The Dragons played Dayton and were defeated 5-1.

Drexel earned three hits before the game was called at the end of the fifth inning due to inclement weather. Kalea Calugay, Devyn Demchak and Grace Abbonizio.

Dayton scored all five runs in the first inning of play. The Flyers hit a double to score their first run of the game. A batter later, Dayton hit a two-run home run. The Flyers scored two more runs with a single up the middle.

The Dragons scored their first run in the fifth. Izzy Alamillo drew a bases-loaded walk to score Demchak.

Drexel returns to play on Friday, February 16. The Dragons travel to Greensboro, N.C., to play in the UNC Greensboro Spiro Classic. The schedule features a doubleheader to begin play on Friday against Ohio and UNC Greensboro starting at 3 p.m. On Saturday, the Dragons will take on Greensboro and Sacred Heart once more, starting at 3 p.m. The Dragons will play again on Sunday but their opponent and time is to be determined.
