College Park, Md. - The Drexel women's lacrosse team fell to the No. 5 Maryland Terps 14-7 Wednesday afternoon in College Park. Jenika Cuocco was a standout for the Dragons, finishing with a career high 17 saves. Drexel is now 2-2, while Maryland moves to 3-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Terps came out the gates to a commanding lead in the first quarter. UMD scored first thanks to a goal from Hannah Leubecker. Maryland scored six straight goals until Wall was able to hit the back of the net late in the quarter to make it 6-1 Maryland.
Wall scored her second tally in a row at the 9:59 mark off an assist from Corinne Bednarik to cut into the Maryland lead 6-2. It was a strong defensive battle in the second as the Dragons protected the net strongly, with Cuocco having four saves compared to Maryland's three. The Terps were able to put together two quick goals to make the score 8-2 at the half.
After Maryland scored quickly to start the second half, Wall helped the Dragons respond with her third goal of the night off the assist from Kate Marano to make it 9-3 Terps. UMD then went on a four goal run to expand the lead to 13-3. Drexel was able to stop the run at the 1:14 mark on the player up, free-position goal from the freshman Bea Buckley. The Terps went into the fourth with the 13-4 lead, and Cuocco had 7 of her 17 saves in the third quarter alone.
Marano, Anna Maria Gragnani and Maddie Fowler all had goals in the fourth quarter as the Dragons fell 14-7.
