Anna Maria Gragnani and Ellie Wall Score Career-Highs in Win Over Elon, 18-9

Elon, N.C. - Ellie Wall and Anna Maria Gragnani both scored career-high four goals as Drexel took down Elon Saturday afternoon, 18-9. Corinne Bednarik also tallied four times. With the win, the Dragons improve to 8-3 and 3-0 in the CAA as Elon falls to 5-7 and 1-3 in CAA play.
BY THE NUMBERS
Gragnani kicked off the game for DU with the first goal early in the first quarter. Alex Wall soon followed with her first goal of the game and tenth of the season. After Elon got on the board at the 11:23 mark, Drexel scored three straight thanks to goals from Allison Drake, Gragnani and Bednarik. Elon closed the gap near the end of the quarter, scoring two to make it 5-3 DU.
The Dragons again started off the second quarter hot with a tally from Kate Quinn at the 14:21 mark. Elon quickly followed with a goal of their own to cut the lead down to 6-4. Drexel responded with two tallies, both coming from free position shots, courtesy of Ellie Wall and Bednarik. The Phoenix once again tallied before Bednarik, Gragnani and Maddie Fowler each added a goal to close the half up 11-5.
Both teams traded a goal to start the third. The Phoenix would not score again until the fourth quarter after three more Dragons hit the back of the net to go up 15-6. Ellie Wall, Gragnani and Molly Weygand all tallied in the third.
Bednarik and Ellie Wall each reached the back of the cage before the Phoenix scored three straight. Ellie Wall scored her final goal of the game to close out the win for Drexel, 18-9.

The Dragons return home to Vidas Field for Senior Day as they battle Monmouth on Saturday, April 6. Opening draw is set for 12 p.m. Senior Day festivities will take place after the game.
