PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel softball team was defeated by the Lehigh Mountain Hawks on Wednesday afternoon, 11-3.
Natalie Alldred (2-3) pitched 2.1 innings, allowing seven runs on five hits. Allison Hoppe closed the game out, going 4.2 innings and allowing four runs on five hits.
Jackie Masone went 1-for-2, hitting a two-run home run. Lily Meuninck was responsible for the other hit that drove in a run. Meuninck hit a solo home run in the second inning as well.
Lehigh scored a pair of runs in the first and second innings. But its lead did not hold long, In the bottom of the second, Meuninck hit her second home run of the season. Later in the inning, Masone hit a two-run home run that gave Drexel a 2-1 lead.
Starting in the third inning, the Mountain Hawks scored nine unanswered runs to top the Dragons, 11-3.
Drexel returns to action on Friday, April 12 against the Hampton Pirates. First pitch from Hampton, Va. is set for 1 p.m.
