WILMINGTON, N.C. - Liv Brocious scored her team best fourth goal of the season, as the Drexel women's soccer team (3-5-2, 1-1-1) fell to UNCW (3-6-3, 1-2-1) in Wilmington, N.C. Sunday afternoon, 3-1.
The Seahawks scored first in the 17th minute. Lexi Vegoda hit the long pass downfield to fellow senior Emily Bowbliss. Bowbliss tapped in the shot with the right foot to give UNCW the early lead.
UNCW found the back of the net once again in the 21st minute. Ava Chuderewicz placed the corner kick right to Vegoda, who put the ball away through the right corner of the net, putting the Seahawks up two scores.
The Dragons quickly responded to get on the board. With the Seahawks goalie out of position, Brocious took advantage to score on an empty net to cut the lead down to one in the 25th minute. With the tally, the sophomore now has nine points on the season.
Both teams went scoreless until the 75th minute. UNCW's Kayla Burroughs hustled down the middle of the field, beating the Drexel defenders to collect the goal. This was ultimately too much for Drexel to come back from as they fell 3-1.
The Dragons return home to host the Hofstra Pride on Thursday, October 3. Action from Vidas Field is set for 6 p.m.
