Cuocco Named CAA Preseason Player of the Year; Three Other Dragons Selected to All-CAA Team

Drexel Picked to Finish Second in Conference
RICHMOND, Va. - Jenika Cuocco of Drexel women's lacrosse was named CAA Preseason Player of the Year for the 2025 season, according to a vote of the league's head coaches. Along with Cuocco, Allison Drake, Ellie Wall, and Camryn Ryan were named to the Preseason All-CAA Team. Drexel was picked to finish second overall in the conference.
Cuocco was one of the best goalkeepers in the country last year, being awarded CAA Goalie of the Year for the second consecutive season. The Sound Beach, New York, native was first in the NCAA in saves (224) and save percentage (.569). She was also second in the NCAA in saves per game (11.75) and eighth in goals against average (9.05). Cuocco was named an All-American by USA Lacrosse, IWLCA, and Inside Lacrosse in 2024, as well as a Preseason All-American by USA Lacrosse this season.
Drake, a graduate student from Easton, Pa., is coming off a Second-Team All-CAA selection last season. She scored 45 goals for the Dragons, which is the most of any returning player on the 2025 roster. The team's captain recorded seven hat tricks, including a career-high six goal performance against VCU.
Wall, a sophomore from Duxbury, Mass., was named to the All-CAA Rookie Team in her freshman campaign. She hit the back of the net 15 times for DU, adding five ground balls. Wall appeared in all 19 games for the Dragons last season and scored a goal in the teams' NCAA First Round game against Princeton.
Ryan, a redshirt-senior defender from Horsham, Pa., received an All-CAA Tournament Team honor a year ago. She caused a career-high 22 turnovers and picked up 23 ground balls. The defender helped the Dragons hold opponents to just 9.05 goals per game, which ranked 13th best in the country.
Additionally, Carrie Johnston received an honorable mention. The redshirt senior collected 17 ground balls and caused eight turnovers in the 2024 season. Drexel earned four of the 12 All-CAA Team selections, the most of any team in the conference.
The Dragons, who received 48 points with one first place vote, finishing just behind two-time defending CAA Champions Stony Brook. Towson also collected one first place vote, sitting in third place with 42 votes. In fourth place was Elon, followed by Hofstra, Delaware, Monmouth, William & Mary, and Campbell.
Mary Semanik Head Women's Lacrosse Coach Katie O'Donnell helped lead the Dragons to their fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance, the first team in Drexel history to accomplish this feat. In three seasons, O'Donnell is 30-15 as a head coach with a .654 winning percentage. DU posted a 13-6 record last season, with wins over nationally ranked Penn State and Navy.
The Dragons open their 2025 season on the road as they battle UConn on February 8. Drexel will make their debut at Vidas Field on February 16, taking on University Rival Penn. It will be the first of eight home games for the team.
