Drexel Falls to Delaware, 13-6

PHILADELPHIA — The Drexel women's lacrosse team fell to Delaware Wednesday afternoon, 13-6. Mary Claire Heubeck had a stellar performance for the Dragons, scoring a hard trick along with seven draw controls. With the loss, the Dragons fall to 3-4 before entering conference play.
The first quarter saw both teams trade the lead, as the Blue Hens struck first. The Dragons responded with a pair of goals from Heubeck and Annie Maddie in a 30-second span to take a 2-1 lead. Delaware answered with four straight goals over an eight-and-a-half minute stretch to take a 5-2 advantage.
The Blue Hens held the Dragons scoreless for nearly 25 minutes during the rally, as Bea Buckley tallied a free-position goal to end the drought. Delaware closed the half on a 3–0 run to take a commanding 8-3 lead, with a pair coming via Riley Sturtevant.
Both teams traded goals in the third quarter, with the Blue Hens getting the better of the Dragons, outscoring them 3-2. Delaware capped off a 4-0 run as they took advantage of a free-position attempt. Heubeck scored her second of three goals before Delaware answered with another just over a minute later. Kate Quinn quickly converted a free-position opportunity for the Dragons, as four of Drexel's goals came from free-position attempts. Delaware added another to take a 11-5 advantage after three quarters.
Drexel held Delaware to just two goals in the fourth, as Huebeck scored the lone goal in the quarter for Drexel.
