Gragnani Scores Career-High Eight Times as Drexel Sinks Harvard, 14-12

SPARKS, Md. - Anna Maria Gragnani had a career night for the Dragons as the Drexel women's lacrosse team defeated Harvard at the USA Lacrosse Headquarters. Gragnani tallied a career-high eight times, one shy of the all-time Drexel single game record on a chilly Friday night in Sparks, Maryland. Allison Drake also added a hat trick as Drexel moves to 2-2 on the season.
The Crimson jumped out to an early 5-1 lead after the first quarter. Harvard scored a pair of goals at the 11:45 and 11:13 mark to take the first lead. Kate Quinn got home to cut the deficit to one. Harvard closed the opening quarter with three straight, including a goal by Grace Mullahy in the final second.
Drexel went on a run to start the second quarter, scoring four consecutive times. Drake and Gragnani each collected a pair of goals in that span. The Crimson rebounded, with Callie Batchelder hitting the back of the net. Harvard's first six goals all came from different players. Gragnani and Drake each recorded a goal give the Dragons their first lead of the night. Harvard closed the half on a hot streak of their own, getting past the cage three more times to end the half up 9-7.
The Dragons once again opened the quarter with four straight goals. Gragnani scored her fourth and fifth goal of the day to pull Drexel even. Bea Buckley scored her first goal of the night to retake the lead. Bridget Finley then found Kate Quinn to give Drexel the lead once more. Harvard's Grace Mullahy added a goal in the final 39 seconds to bring the Crimson to within one heading to the fourth.
Gragnani scored all three of the Dragons goals in the final quarter. She helped Drexel strike first in the fourth, and hit the back of the net at the 10:12 mark. Harvard would not go away as they scored again to bring the lead down to one. Gragnani scored just 40 seconds later, before Batcheler responded just over 30 seconds after that. Gragnani finally put the game away as tallied for the eighth time to give Drexel the 14-12 win. Jenika Cuocco had ten saves in the contest, including two in the final quarter.
