Drake's Seven Points Lifts Dragons Past Fairfield, 14-7

PHILADELPHIA - Allison Drake's career-best seven point performance lifted the Dragons (4-2) past Fairfield, 14-7, at Vidas Field Saturday afternoon. Drake collected her 100th career points in the contest, with an assist to Bridget Finley in the second quarter. Finley tallied five times for the second consecutive game, while Bea Buckley added three points.
Drexel started the first quarter with a 3-0 run. Buckley found Finley who was racing around the back of the cage. Finley ripped the shot around the Stags defender to hit the back of the net for the score. The redshirt senior followed that up with another tally three minutes later. Finley took the pass from behind the net again, and circled around for her second straight goal. Drake finished the run with a free position goal. Fairfield followed up with three straight goals of their own, with two coming from Grace Slater to end the half.
Finley earned a goal in the opening minute of the second. Drake dished it to Finley who came sprinting from the eight meter mark to hit the top of the net. After another Stags goal, Drexel added three more. Finley tallied once, while Kate Quinn added a pair. Quinn hit a buzzer beater to send Drexel to the half up 7-4.
The third quarter saw an even match up, with both squads earning three goals. Fairfield got off hot, with Kyleigh Tufano getting home at the 11:00 mark. Amanda Kozak found Tufano just in front of the net for the score. Drake recorded a pair at the 10:13 and 7:14 marks to extend the lead back to 9-5. Slater picked up her third goal of the game thanks to a free position opportunity. Finley and Kozak each traded tallies to head to the final quarter.
The Dragons ended the game with four consecutive goals, leaving Fairfield scoreless. Drake hit the back of the net for a pair in the first five minutes. The nation's seventh leading scoring Anna Maria Gragnani got on the board with her first strike of the day. The redshirt senior took the pass from Drake right in front of the cage and put it away for the goal. Bea Buckley closed things out for Drexel in the final 17 seconds, capping off a 14-7 win over the Stags.
