Dragons Upended by Delaware in Series Finale

PHILADELPHIA - The Drexel softball team was defeated in the series finale by the Delaware Blue Hens on Sunday afternoon, 17-3.
Delaware scored eight runs before Drexel got on the scoreboard. In the bottom of the third, Drexel pieced together a three-run inning starting with Kylah Reading hitting a single to center field. The single drove home Kelsie Peters and moved Ariana Castillo to third. Reading then attempted to steal second and drew a throw that went offline, letting Castillo cross the plate. A batter later, Kalea Calugay singled to center field and scored Reading on the play, capping Drexel's three-run inning.
The Blue Hens added nine runs between the fourth and fifth innings to push its lead to 14.
Drexel returns to action on Friday, March 14. Drexel travels to West Long Branch to begin a three-game series against Monmouth. Action against the Hawks on Friday is slated for 2 p.m.
