Men's Lacrosse Faces Towson in CAA Finals on Saturday in Maryland

TOWSON - The Drexel men's lacrosse team will face Towson University for the CAA Championship on Saturday afternoon at noon. The game, which was originally scheduled for 3:30, was moved up due to weather. The winner of the CAA will get an automatic bid to the upcoming NCAA Championship.
About the Dragons
The Dragons, under first-year head coach Steve Boyle, are now 8-7 overall after an impressive 14-6 win in the CAA semifinals. Drexel has now won four of its last five and is just one win away from its third CAA Championship.
Max Semple leads the team with 38 goals and 43 points. The senior from British Columbia has had 30 or more goals in three of his four seasons and is third all-time in goals at Drexel with 126. Witt Crawford and Conor Hooley have 45 and 42 points, respectively. Crawford scored five goals in the win vs. Fairfield, while Hooley added three. Joyner leads the midfield with 15 goals and has also handed out 12 assists. Drexel's defense has been a key to its success in 2025. The Dragons have the top scoring defense in the CAA in league play, allowing just 77 goals in eight CAA games, including the playoffs. Pat Lyman, Kevin O'Brien and Gucwa have played well together while shortsticks Connor McVicker and Liam Kammar have had solid seasons.
Brendan Donnelly took over starting duties midway through the year and has had 10 or more saves six times. He was outstanding in the win vs. Fairfield with 13 saves. Aidan Shortley has been the team's primary face-off man this season and has won 51 percent of his draws.
About Towson
The Tigers are the hottest team in the CAA. They have yet to lose to a CAA opponent (7-0) and have won nine games in a row. They begin play Saturday with a 10-5 record. Towson earned a share of three of the league's four yearly awards. Mikey Weisshaar earned CAA Offensive Player of the Year, Ronan Fitzpatrick notched CAA Rookie of the Year and Shawn Nadelen wa the CAA Co-Coach of the Year.
Four Towson players were named to the CAA's First Team. Those players were Weisshaar at attack, Chop Gallagher at midfield, Sam Morin at long-stick and Joe Petro on defense.

Saturday will be the 64th meeting between the two schools.Towson holds a 50-13 lead in the series and the Tigers won the earlier meetings this year in Philadelphia, 12-8.
