Late-Match Surge Not Enough; Dragons Fall to Monmouth 3-2

Monmouth scored its first goal of the match in the 48th minute. Jasen Bottini took the ball along the 18-yard box and struck the ball with his right foot, curling it past Raphael Bartell to find the top-right of the goal.
In the 67th minute, the Hawks tacked on an insurance tally. Bottini finished off a play started by Javier Losa and Jakob Friedman.
In the 72nd minute, the match entered a lightning delay, which lasted a little over a half hour.
When the game returned from the weather delay, it did not take long for Monmouth to add its third goal. In the 78th minute, Monmouth capitalized on a defensive breakdown.
A minute later, Drexel began its climb back into the match. Mateo Camejo finished a corner kick sent into the box by Morgan Worsfold-Gregg to give Drexel its first notch.

In the 81st minute, Drexel pulled within one of Monmouth, finishing another set piece play. Worsfold-Gregg sent a ball into the box that found Finn Van Den Berg. The defenseman then dumped the ball off to Julian Pittaoulis who finished the play and pulled Drexel within one.

Drexel's comeback magic was stopped there. Monmouth withstood the final minutes of the match and escaped with its first conference victory of the season.
Drexel wraps up its three-match homestand on Wednesday against Mercyhurst. Action is slated for 4 p.m.
