TOWSON, Md. – Drexel softball dropped a 6-4 decision to Towson in Game 1 on Friday after the Tigers walked it off in the bottom of the seventh. The Dragons moved to 10-8 overall and 0-1 in conference play.

Towson scored the first two runs of the afternoon in the fourth inning. Alyssa Myint doubled home a run before Addison Miller followed with an RBI triple to make it 2-0.

Drexel answered in the top of the fifth. Quinn Cunnigham and Annabelle Smink came around to score on Olivia Sciulli's two-run triple to left center, and Kylah Reading followed with an RBI single to right to give the Dragons a 3-2 lead.

The Tigers responded immediately in the bottom half. Addie Ferguson singled home Kaci Benton, then Mackenzie Gorczyca added an RBI single to put Towson back in front, 4-3.

In the seventh, Ariana Castillo came through as a pinch hitter with a leadoff single. Cunnigham moved her over with a sacrifice bunt, and Castillo later scored on a Towson error off the bat of Reading to even the score at 4-4.

Towson had the final answer in the bottom of the inning, however, when Ferguson hit a two-run walk-off home run to seal the 6-4 result.

Reading led Drexel with a 2-for-4 day and two RBI. Demchak added two hits, while Sciulli tripled and drove in two. Castillo finished 1-for-1 with a run scored off the bench.

Courtney Kols went the distance in the circle for Drexel, allowing six runs on 11 hits with two walks and three strikeouts in 6.0 innings.

By the Numbers

Reading went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Demchak finished 2-for-3.

Sciulli had Drexel's lone extra-base hit, a two-run triple.

Castillo went 1-for-1 as a pinch hitter and scored the tying run in the seventh.

Kols threw a complete game, striking out three over 6.0 innings.
