Men's Basketball to Face Northeastern in Second Round of CAA Tournament on Saturday

PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel men's basketball team will begin the CAA Tournament on Saturday, March 7, against the Northeastern Huskies. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:30 p.m., and the contest can be viewed on Flo College. The International Brotherhood of Electrical Worker's Local 98 is once again the presenting sponsor of Drexel Men's Basketball. LAST TIME OUT
The Dragons fell to the Hofstra Pride on Tuesday, 62-51, in New York. Shane Blakeney led the team with 15 points. Blakeney shot 50% from beyond the arc, rebounded the ball five times on defense and stole the ball once. Victor Panov had nine points along with five rebounds, two blocks and an assist. Garfield Turner scored eight while pulling in two rebounds, blocking a shot and stealing the ball once. Drexel connected on 11 three-pointers on the night and won the turnover battle 14-11.
ABOUT NORTHEASTERN
The Huskies defeated NC A&T in the first round of the CAA Tournament on Friday, 88-72, which marked the 200th CAA victory of head coach Bill Coen's career. Junior Mike Loughnane hit 4 threes on his way to 18 points across 39 minutes of game action.
Junior William Kermoury leads the team with 13.5 points per game this season. Freshman guard Xavier Abreu led Northeastern in scoring in both match-ups against Drexel this season, notching 19 points in each game.

Drexel leads the all-time series 47-29 after sweeping the season series (1.24.26:Drexel 83 Northeastern 78 & 2.19.26: Drexel 70 Northeastern 61). Blakeney averaged 16 ppg, 5.5 rpg, and 2.5 apg to lead the way for the Dragons against the Huskies this year. Panov stuffed the stat sheet with 19 points, seven rebounds, five assists, one block, and one steal in the February 19th contest.
