How It Happened – Game One
UNCW opened the scoring in the third inning with a solo home run and an RBI single to take a 2-0 lead.
The Seahawks added two more runs in the fifth inning on a two-run home run to extend the lead to 4-0.
Drexel responded in the bottom of the fifth inning with eight runs. Quinn Cunnigham, Kylah Reading, and Olivia Sciulli scored on a Jackie Masone double to left field to cut the deficit to 4-3. Masone later scored on a Kalea Calugay single up the middle to tie the game. Later in the inning, Kalea Calugay, Macie Bergmann, and Natalie Alldred scored when Annabelle Smink homered to left field, driving in four runs to give Drexel an 8-4 lead.
Drexel held UNCW scoreless over the final two innings to secure the win.
How It Happened – Game Two
UNCW took an early lead in the second inning with a double that drove in two runs.
In the fourth inning, UNCW extended its lead with six runs. A two-run home run opened the scoring before additional runs scored on an error and another two-run home run to make it 8-0.
Drexel got on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning when Kalea Calugay scored on a Macie Bergmann home run to left field.
UNCW added a run in the fifth inning on an error to extend the lead to 9-2.
Drexel responded in the sixth inning. Jackie Masone, Macie Bergmann, and Natalie Alldred scored when Ariana Castillo homered to left field, driving in four runs to cut the deficit to 9-6.
UNCW added four runs in the seventh inning, highlighted by a bases-clearing double, to secure the 13-6 result.
By the Numbers
Annabelle Smink recorded a home run and four RBI in game one.
Jackie Masone added three RBI in the opener.
Ariana Castillo hit a grand slam and finished with four RBI in game two.
Macie Bergmann recorded a home run and two RBI in game two.
Courtney Kols pitched a complete game in game one.
