CHERRY HILL, N.J. — The Drexel men's rowing team is set to battle for its fifth straight points title at the 87th Jefferson Dad Vail Regatta this weekend on the Cooper River. The Dragons begin competition with time trials and semifinals on Friday before the Grand Finals take place on Saturday.
Drexel will have 10 boats competing at this year's regatta. The Varsity 8+ field features 19 crews, including Philadelphia rivals La Salle, Saint Joseph's and Temple.
The Dragons Varsity 8+ team was recently ranked No. 17 in the IRCA/IRA Coaches Poll, with multiple wins over top-20 opponents this season. Drexel will also look to secure an automatic qualifying bid to this year's IRA National Championships in Gold River, California.
The 3rd Varsity 8+ and Varsity 4+ each captured gold at last year's Dad Vail Regatta, while six Drexel boats overall earned podium finishes. Both the men's and women's programs took home the overall points championship for the second consecutive season.
