Women’s Varsity 8+ Eyes Three-Peat at Dad Vail Regatta

CHERRY HILL, N.J. — The Drexel women's rowing team is set to chase gold this weekend at the 87th Jefferson Dad Vail Regatta on the Cooper River. Racing begins Friday with time trials and semifinal heats, setting the stage for Saturday's Grand Finals.

The Varsity 8+ will aim to secure a third straight Dad Vail title, while both the men's and women's programs look to capture their third consecutive overall team championships.

The Dragons will send five boats to the regatta this season, including the Varsity 8+, 2nd Varsity 8+, 3rd Varsity 8+, Varsity 4+, and Varsity 1x. The Varsity 8+ will line up against a 12-boat field featuring Philadelphia rivals La Salle, Saint Joseph's, and Temple.

Both the Varsity 8+ and 2nd Varsity 8+ crews captured gold at the regatta during the 2025 campaign. The Dragons led from start to finish in the V8+ race, holding off late charges from Georgetown and Saint Joseph's to secure the win at the line. The 2V8+ posted the best time of the season and finished over six seconds ahead of the second place Hoyas. Overall, all five boats advanced to the Grand Finals.
