Frantic Comeback Sends No. 16 Drexel Past Lafayette, 3-2

Easton, Pa. - Drexel field hockey scored the game's final three goals in the last 10 minutes to rally past Lafayette, 3-2. Kim Tunell completed the stunning turnaround with a goal on a penalty corner with just four seconds remaining in the game. The win moved Drexel to 12-3 overall and extended the team's winning streak to nine games. Jen Cairone and Susan Ciufo scored the other Drexel goals.
Despite outshooting the Leopards, 15-4, for the game, Lafayette held a 2-0 lead after a Haley Keenan goal with 14:08 remaining. The Dragons refused to panic as Cairone was able to score on a penalty corner on a Tunell assist. Drexel rode the momentum to knot the game at 2-2 when Ciufo connected in front of the goal with just over six minutes remaining. With the home team on its heels, Tunell sent the Drexel bench into a frenzy when she rocketed a shot directly off of a penalty corner with just four ticks remaining.
In addition to the Dragons' huge advantage in shots, the visitors were awarded seven penalty corners to Lafayette's two. Jenna Phillips made one save for Drexel while Kelsey Andersen stopped seven Drexel shots.
Drexel returns to Colonial Athletic Association action this Sunday when the Dragons travel to Boston to take on Northeastern.
