BOX SCORE
WILMINGTON, N.C. - Tara Konopka held the UNC Wilmington offense down over nearly 13 innings of work, but the host Seahawks broke through with a two-run home run in the 13th inning to defeat the Drexel softball team, 3-1. Konopka scattered seven hits and struck out five over 12.2 innings of work.
The Dragons found themselves unable to complete the sweep at UNC Wilmington after winning both ends of a doubleheader on Saturday, Drexel's first two CAA wins of the season.
Drexel got on the board first when Maggy Fermo plated Lara Horwitz on an RBI groundout in the third inning. The Seahawks answered in the bottom of the third, and the score remained knotted at one for the next nine innings.
With two outs in the bottom of the 13th, Lauryn Buckworth homered to straightaway center field. Drexel center fielder Hanna Parrish was able to get a glove on it as the ball came down, but could not rob the homer as the Seahawks walked off with the win.
The Dragons will conclude their non-conference schedule on Tuesday when they head out to Villanova for a doubleheader. First pitch is set for 3:00 p.m.
