Philadelphia - The Drexel men's lacrosse team will look to get in the win column for the first time in 2015 Tuesday afternoon at Vidas Field. The Dragons host Villanova at 3 p.m. The game was originally scheduled to be played at night, but was moved up due to weather conditions.
The Dragons are 0-2 in the early going with both losses to nationally-ranked teams. Drexel opened the year with a 14-10 loss at Virginia. On Saturday, the Dragons fell to Albany. Both games were played in difficult conditions, as snow and bitter temperatures were the norm on lacrosse fields throughout the northeast. Cole Shafer scored three times and assisted on another in the 15-7 loss to the Great Danes. Shafer and Ryan Belka lead the team with four goals and five points. Five of the duos six goals have come on the man-up. The Dragons have scored six man-up goals in two games. Will Gabrielsen has 21 saves in two games in the cage for DU.
The Wildcats come into the game with a 1-1 record. They defeated No. 17 Penn State on Saturday, 11-7. In their first game, Villanova fell to Johns Hopkins, 13-10. Danny Seibel scored three times to lead the Wildcats. Jack Curran and Eric Gartner each had a pair of goals. The 'Cats two goalkeepers made nine saves.
