ORLANDO - The Drexel softball team secured two wins on day three of the Rebel Classic on Friday as they defeated Florida A&M, 6-2 and then picked up a 1-0 victory over Hampton.

In the first game of the day, Samantha Asbra went 2-for-4 from the plate with three RBI, while Baeley Reed was 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Asbra got things started for the Dragons in the top of the first, as she singled to drive in Paula Ueno for Drexel's first run of the day. The Rattlers would tie things up with a run in the bottom of the inning, but the Dragons would strike again in the top of the second. A suicide squeeze from Sharon Zamora brought a run across the plate and then an error on the pitcher allowed another run to score, giving the Dragons a 3-1 advantage.

In the top of the fifth, Reed led off with a single and then advanced to second on a wild pitch. After stealing third, Reed was able to cross the plate after Paula Ueno put the ball in play and was safe on a fielder's choice.

Asbra knocked in the Dragons' final two runs of the first game with a double to the gap in left center with the bases loaded to solidify a 6-2 victory.

Tara Konopka picked up her second win of the season after throwing a complete game against Florida A&M and tallying a total of 11 strikeouts while allowing only six hits.

Game two remained scoreless into the sixth inning. The Dragons started a two-out rally with back to back singles from Ueno and Asbra. Savanna Johnson then came to the plate and added another single to drive in Ueno for what would become the game-winning run.

With a 1-0 lead, Taylor L. Lee was able to hold off Hampton in the seventh to earn her fourth win of the season. She totaled nine strikeouts on the outing.

With the wins, Drexel improves its overall record to 8-6. The Dragons will resume competition at the Rebel Games on Saturday, as they are set to face both Hampton and Florida A&M again with games at 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. respectively.
