Softball Splits First Two at Rebel Games

ORLANDO - The Drexel softball team opened play at the Rebel Classic on Wednesday evening with an 8-3 win over Holy Cross and a 1-0 loss to Sacred Heart.
The Dragons scored six runs in the first inning against Holy Cross and then were able to hold off the Crusaders for the remainder of their first game of the day. Kimberly Chan went 3-for-4 from the plate on the day with three singles and a run scored. Taylor L. Lee picked up the win for the Dragons, her third of the season, after throwing five strike outs and allowing only one earned run.
In their second game, the Dragons went to eight innings with Sacred Heart before an unearned run crossed the plate to give the game to the Pioneers. Tara Konopka pitched a complete game and threw eight strike outs in the losing effort.
The Dragons move to 6-4 overall. They are set to continue competition tomorrow as they face the Crusaders again at 9 a.m. before they take on Creighton at 11 a.m.
