ORLANDO - The Drexel softball team had a tough day two at the Rebel Games as they fell to Holy Cross, 8-1 in the first game of the day and then dropped a 7-3 loss to Creighton in game two.
As Drexel faced Holy Cross for the second time in two days, Baeley Reed went 2-for-4 from the plate with a double and a run scored for the Dragons. Samantha Asbra knocked in Reed with a single up the middle in the top of the sixth for Drexel's lone of the outing. Katie Haley was handed the loss, her first of the season.
Against Creighton, Savanna Johnson went 2-for-3 with a run scored and Ellen Scott went 2-for 2 with two RBI. Creighton took a 1-0 lead in the first, but then in the bottom of the inning Asbra knocked in Johnson with a single to even the score. Creighton pulled away in the third and fourth innings, scoring five additional runs over the two-inning span to take a 6-1 lead. Drexel got two back in the bottom of the fifth as Scott brought in two runs with a bunt single, but it was not enough to overcome the deficit the Bluejays had created. Taylor L. Lee was credited with the second loss of the day, despite throwing five strikeouts in three and two-thirds innings.
The Dragons, now 6-6 overall, continue action at the Rebel Games tomorrow as they are scheduled to face Florida A&M and Hampton at 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. respectively.
