Women's Lacrosse Drops Contest to Villanova, 20-12

VILLANOVA, Pa. – Karson Harris netted four goals, however, it was not enough as the Drexel women's lacrosse team fell to Villanova, 20-12, on Saturday afternoon
Drexel got on the board first just four minutes into the game when Lucy Schneidereith connected on a pass from Colleen Grady to put the Dragons ahead 1-0. The two teams traded goals until Villanova netted three to capture the lead, however, Drexel responded with a 3-0 run of its own to knot the game at 5s. After two free position goals from Harris, Alex Beilman tied the game at 6:51 with a man-up goal. Villanova then went on to score two more, followed by a Drexel goal from Harris with 2:48 on the clock. The freshman's free position goal closed the gap down to one but Villanova netted another to end the half with an 8-6 lead.
The Wildcats started the half with three quick goals before Drexel cut the deficit down to two with two back-to-back goals from Cassidy Delaney and a third from Grady. With 18:19 remaining in regulation, the hosts used a 9-1 run give them a 20-10 advantage. The run was capped with a goal from Nicole Concanon before Drexel closed out the game with goals from both Grady and Schneidereith in the waning minutes.
Drexel will regroup and return to action on Wednesday, March 14 at 4 p.m. when it travels to Penn State.
