Men's Soccer Shut Down at Hofstra, 1-0
9/26/2018 9:01:00 PM | Men's Soccer
HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – Going on the road in Colonial Athletic Association play for the first time this season, the Drexel men's soccer team could not end a lengthy shutout streak carried by the host Hofstra Pride as the Dragons fell on Wednesday night, 1-0. Hofstra has now posted shutouts in each of its last six matches.
The Dragons (6-2-1, 1-2-0) managed just seven shots on the evening, only putting two on frame, as Hofstra's defense continued to stifle opponents.
Marcus Lindqvist scored his first of the season with 23:59 to play, providing the game's only score. Drexel goalkeeper Stephen Kopsachilis came up with four saves in the losing effort.
Only Kwesi Allen and Laolu Daranijo managed to test Hofstra keeper Alex Ashton, who handled both chances. Chris Donovan sent a boot from 18 yards out just over the crossbar as the clock expired in what was one of the Dragons' best looks of the evening.
The Dragons will attempt to bounce back from the loss on Saturday evening when they remain on the road to take on the College of Charleston. That game will kick off at 7 p.m.
