Men's Soccer Tripped Up in OT, Falls 1-0 to Penn
10/22/2019 8:23:00 PM | Men's Soccer
PHILADELPHIA - On a rainy night in West Philadelphia, the annual University City Derby went the way of the Penn Quakers on Tuesday night as they got an overtime goal to defeat the Drexel men's soccer team, 1-0. The Dragons managed just five shots, one of which went on goal, on a sloppy night that saw periods of intense rain.
Jack Rosener put the game-winner home for Penn with 3:58 left on the clock in the first overtime period, finishing a ball from Jake Kohlbrenner.
Stephen Kopsachilis had four saves for Drexel, playing well in slippery conditions. In all, Penn outshot the Dragons 12-5.
The win gave Penn a share of the 2019 Philadelphia Soccer Six championship, which the Quakers will share with Villanova. Had Drexel pulled out the victory, it would have been the Dragons sharing a second consecutive city crown with the Wildcats.
Drexel will return to action on Saturrday evening when the Dragons get back to Colonial Athletic Association play at UNCW. That game kicks off at 7 p.m.
