Men's Soccer to Open 2021 CAA Playoffs Thursday Against Hofstra

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – The Drexel men's soccer team will travel to Hempstead, N.Y. to face Hofstra in the 2021 CAA Men's Soccer semifinals on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. The winner of the match will advance to the finals on Sunday at 1 p.m.
SCOUTING THE PRIDE
The Pride enter the semifinals as the CAA regular-season champions after finishing the regular season with a 14-1-2 record overall and a 5-1-2 mark in league play. The No. 13 pride are led by Ryan Carmichael who finished the year 13 goals and four assists, totaling 30 points.
THE SERIES
Thursday's match will be the 61st meeting between the two teams. Drexel is 28-21-11 all-time versus the Pride and will be playing for its first victory against the New York team since their meeting in 2012. Earlier this season, the Pride edged the Dragons, 2-1, with Drexel taking the shots on goal advantage, 8-7.
THE FIELD
Top-seeded Hofstra enters the tournament with a 5-1-2 record in conference play. Northeastern takes the second seed with a conference record of 5-2-1, followed by the No. 3 seeded Elon, with a 4-2-2 record. Drexel rounds out the top-four with a 4-3-1 record. The Dragons are split even against all three teams in the playoffs with a 1-1-1 record this season. Drexel defeated Northeastern on Oct. 23, 2-0, and tied against Elon on Oct. 2, 0-0.
