Softball Splits Doubleheader Against Morgan State

GAME ONE
Lindsay Nelson started the game and reentered the game in relief for the Dragons. The sophomore pitched 3.1 innings, holding the Bears to three runs on five hits.
Meghan Conroy (4-1) entered the game in relief and went 1.2 innings, allowing six runs. Conroy struck three batters out in the effort.
Megan Kyte finished the game for the Dragons. The freshman went two innings, allowing four runs and striking two batters out. It was the first collegiate appearance for Kyte.
Elena Woulfe went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
Linda Rush went 3-for-5 with a three-run home run and one run scored.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Morgan State jumped out to a quick start in the top of the first inning. The Bears hit a home run to right-center.
In the bottom of the second, Hannah Walker hit a double to right-center and scored Grace Abbonizio to give the Dragons their first run of the game. Immediately after, Woulfe singled through the right side and scored Walker from second.
In the bottom of the third, Holly Bridgman hit a sacrifice fly to bring home Drexel's third run.
In the top of the fourth, Morgan State scored two runs to tie the game at three runs apiece.
In the bottom of the fourth, Rush and DiMeo hit back-to-back home runs to put the Dragons up four. With runners on first and third, Rush hit a long ball to center field and scored three runs. DiMeo followed Rush by hitting a ball beyond the wall in center.
In the fifth, Morgan state took the lead by scoring six runs. Heading into the bottom of the fifth, the Bears lead the game, 9-7. Morgan State scored a run in the sixth inning and three more in the seventh inning to take a 13-7 lead.
In the bottom of the seventh, DiMeo doubled to right-center and scored Taylor Kent to push the game to 13-8.
GAME TWO
Jessica Schable (2-0) threw the first complete game of her career. The sophomore held Morgan State to three runs and seven hits. Schable also fanned six batters in the effort.
Reilly Jo Swanson went 2-for-3 with one run scored for the Dragons.
Hannah Walker went 2-for-3 with a three-run home run and scored a run. The home run was her first of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dragons struck first in the bottom of the second, Hannah Walker hit a three-run home run to put the Dragons on the scoreboard.
In the top of the third, Morgan State hit a home run to trim the lead to two runs.
In the bottom of the fourth, the Dragons added three insurance runs. Kent reached on a throwing error by the third basemen. Abbonizio scored on the error. Woulfe was the next to bat, and she singled to right field and scored Kent. A few batters later, DiMeo hit a single to left field and scored two runs. At the end of the fourth, the Dragons had a 7-1 lead.
In the fifth, the Bears scored a run to pull within five of the Dragons. Morgan State added one more run in the top of the seventh with a solo home run.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Dragons will host the Delaware Blue Hens in a three-game series. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Friday, April 23, and finish the series on Saturday, April 24, with a single game.
