CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. - The Drexel men's swimming and diving team continued its time at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center in Christiansburg, Va. for day three of the 2022 Colonial Athletic Association on Friday night. The third day saw the Dragons win five medals, including their first gold of this year's conference championship.
Paris Raptis finished second in the 100 fly with a time of 47.19, which is a B-cut time for the NCAA championships. He earned his second medal of the four-day meet, and he added a silver to go along with his bronze from the 200 IM on Thursday night.
Drexel placed first and second in the B final of the 400 IM. Will Soleo and Xabier Carneiro clocked in times of 3:59.97 and 4:02.50, respectively.
Alessio Gianni earned the first Drexel gold medal of the championship meet, after a come-from-behind victory in the 200 free. The freshman finished first with a time of 1:37.34. Kevin Spear made the A final after a a preliminary time of 1:40.31. Spear placed eighth in the event.
Kacper Karnik got on the board with a medal in the 100 breast. The sophomore earned a bronze after swimming a time of 52.97, a new program record. Karnik broke his own record that he set earlier in the day during preliminaries. Karnik's time of 52.97 is a B-cut time for the NCAA championships.
Will Seely won bronze in the 3-meter board after posting a score of 272.00. The Lansdale, Pa. native joins his teammate Jack Patton, who won bronze off the 1-meter board Wednesday night.
The night ended with a bronze medal in the 200 free relay. Kacper Karnik, Alex Flynn, Kevin Spear and John Scully teamed up to post a time of 1:20.66 to place third for the Dragons.
The final day of the conference championship meet is on Saturday with preliminaries at 10 a.m. Diving preliminares are at 12:30 p.m. and the finals begin at 6 p.m.
