PHILADELPHIA – For a third-straight week, junior Alessandro Capogna of the Drexel men's soccer team has been honored by the Philadelphia Soccer 6 organization. Capogna has now been named the Defensive Player of the Week two weeks in a row.
Capogna continued his top-notch goalkeeping through the third week of the season, helping tie the conference matchup against Northeastern. The junior goalkeeper made two incredible diving stops to keep the match, at the time, scoreless. In the 73rd minute, the Huskies were awarded a penalty kick and Capogna dove to his right and saved the ball sending it back into play. Immediately after, Capogna was challenged once more and rose to the occasion, making the stop.
Capogna and the Dragons host the Saint Joseph's Hawks in a mid-week matchup on Tuesday night. The opening kick is slated for 6 p.m.
