Simpson Leads the Dragons to a 12-5 Triumph over Wagner

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – Hayleigh Simpson scored a hat trick and six other Dragons found the back of the net in a 12-5 victory over Wagner on Wednesday night. Corinne Bednarik, Alex Wall, Lindsey Dean, Molly Weygand, Grace Harding, and Anna Maria Gragnani all tallied for Drexel. DU earned its first road victory and overall second success of the season.
FIRST QUARTER- Wagner 3, Drexel 2
Bednarik and Dean scored in the first five minutes of the game which gave Drexel a 2-0 advantage. The Seahawks fired back with three unanswered goals to end the quarter with a 3-2 lead.
SECOND QUARTER - Drexel 5, Wagner 4
The Seahawks added to their lead early in the quarter. The Dragons then took control with goals by Wall, Simpson, and Bednarik to take a 5-4 lead into halftime.
THIRD QUARTER - Drexel 8, Wagner 5
Simpson found her second goal of the game 40 seconds into the second half. Gragnani and Harding gave Drexel a four-goal advantage with one quarter left to play.
FOURTH QUARTER - Drexel 12, Wagner 5
DU closed the contest with four goals in the fourth quarter to secure the victory.
