Bednarik Scores her 100th goal as the Dragons Down William & Mary, 13-7

PHILADELPHIA – Corinne Bednarik scored the 100th goal of her career as Drexel picked up its first conference win of the season, 13-7 over William & Mary on Saturday afternoon at Vidas Field. DU improved to 6-3 and 1-1 versus the CAA.
BY THE NUMBERS

Corinne Bednarik earned a hat trick, eight draw controls, and five ground balls in the contest.

Grace Harding (4), Bridget Finley (3), Maddie Fowler (2), and Alex Wall all tallied for the Dragons.

DU won the draw control battle and was successful on 17 of 24 draws. Maura Cissel added five DCs in the circle.

The Dragons caused 16 turnovers and went 17-18 on defensive clears.
HOW IT HAPPENED

Finley gave Drexel the early lead, 48 seconds into the game as she fired a shot past the Tribe goalkeeper. Two minutes later W&M scored an equalizer. Bednarik and Fowler each scored on assists from Godshall with under six minutes left in the timeframe. The Tribe was successful on a free-position shot and the first quarter ended with DU up by one.

Three Dragons scored in the second quarter as Harding tallied a hat-trick on a pass from Kate Marano. Godshall's four assists helped Drexel to an 8-4 advantage headed into halftime.

DU started the second half strong as Bednarik earned the 100th goal of her career and Finley found her 19th of the season.

Alex Wall added a goal to solidify the sixth victory for the Dragons in the final quarter. W&M scored twice in the quarter.

The Dragons host San Diego State on Tuesday, March 28. The opening draw is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. from Vidas Field.
