Dragons Begin CAA Play Against Towson on Saturday

PHILADELPHIA- Drexel begins conference play on Saturday when long-time rival Towson comes to West Philadelphia. The Dragons and the Tigers will face-off at noon on a game that can be seen live on FloSports and NBC Sports Philadelphia+. The game is sponsored by The Study.
About the Dragons
Drexel is now 3-3 after losing its last two decisions, including a 15-6 loss at Saint Joseph's last weekend. Max Semple had his third hat trick of the season and now has 14 goals to lead the team. Conor Hooley has 11 goals and leads the club with 17 points. Midfielder Luke Tomak is also in double figures with 12 goals. Drew McGill has gotten off to a good start in the cage. He has made at least 10 saves in every game and was the CAA Defensive Player of the Week two weeks ago.
About Towson
The Tigers are 4-3 entering Saturday. Their only losses have come to Johns Hopkins, Loyola and Virginia. Nick DeMaio already has 38 points this season. He had six assists against Virginia and earlier this year had four goals and five assists against Navy. He isn't the Tigers only weapon. Mikey Weisshaar has a team-high 22 goals in seven games. Towson averages 13.4 goals per game. Former Drexel lacrosse standouts Steve Grossi and Matt Musci are assistant coaches at Towson. Grossi graduated in 2007, while Musci is a 2009 grad.

The Dragons will step out of conference next weekend when they go to Charlottesville, Va. to face the fourth-ranked Virginia Cavaliers. On Monday, they return to conference play with a road game at Hampton.

The Series
Towson holds a commanding 47-13 lead in the series that dates back to 1962. Despite that mark, the Dragons have had it better as of late, winning three of the last four including two straight at Towson for the first time in school history. They won their second straight on the road last year with a 12-11 overtime win. Towson's last win came at Vidas Field in 2022.
