Drexel Continues Road Trip Against Elon

ELON, N.C. - Drexel women's lacrosse continues its two game road trip as they head down south to face-off against Elon on Saturday. Opening draw is set for 12 p.m. Action can be seen on LacrosseTV.
ABOUT THE DRAGONS
The Dragons earned another impressive win, 15-6, over VCU on Wednesday afternoon, to move to 7-3 on the year.
Allison Drake eclipsed her career-high in goals with six against the Rams. The redshirt-senior previously set a career-high of five in the win against CAA newcomer Campbell just this past Friday. The Easton, Pa native now has 23 goals on the year, which is second on the team.
Corinne Bednarik also tallied five times to record her eighth hat trick off the season, and her third in a row. The fifth year has hit the back of the net 33 times this season. She is seventh best in NCAA with 56 points this season, while also being fifth best in points per game with 5.6. Bednarik is also 18th in DI with 23 assists.
While breaking into the national ranks, Bednarik has also climbed into the Drexel record books. Coming into Saturday's game, Bednarik is now fourth all time in points (249) and assists (93).
DU dominated defensively against VCU. Camryn Ryan caused a career-high four turnovers while Bea Buckley caused three. Molly Weygand picked up a career-high of her own, collecting four ground balls. As a team, Drexel forced a season-high 16 turnovers and snatched a second best 23 ground balls.
Jenika Cuocco was awarded her third CAA Defensive Player of the Week award this past week. The junior is currently fifth best in the country with 112 saves and recently surpassed over 1,500 minutes played. She was named an IL Women Midseason Third Team All-American following her outstanding season thus far.
LOOKING AT THE OPPONENT
The Phoenix are 5-6 and 1-2 in the CAA this year with victories over Old Dominion, VCU, Furman, East Carolina and Monmouth. Elon has two losses this season by just one score.
Anna Hackett is the team's leading scorer with 28 points this season. Hackett also leads the team in tallies with 23. Cierra Hopson and Sammy Fisher are both close behind with 24 points.
Caitlin Walsh has had a stellar season in front of the cage with 87 saves, which is 29th best in NCAA. MJ Santa Barbara has dominated at the center field, recording 9.09 draw controls per game, which is sixth best in the country.

Elon owns the 4-3 advantage over Drexel in the all-time matchup. DU earned the 12-5 win over the Phoenix on April 7, 2023 with Bednarik earning a hat trick.
