Drexel Soars Past Wagner, 16-3

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - Allison Drake recorded five points as Drexel stomped Wagner,16-3. Anna Maria Gragnani also added four goals as the Dragons picked up their first win of the season Wednesday night in Staten Island.
The Dragons broke open a 1-1 game, scoring seven straight goals in the first. Drexel scored eight of their 16 tallies in the first quarter.
Drake got the Dragons on the board first for the second consecutive game. The graduate student slashed to the goal on the left side to hit the bottom of the net. After a response for the Eagles, Bridget Finley put the Dragons back in front. She took the dish from Drake down the middle for the score. Drake wasn't done there, as she took advantage of the Eagles penalty, driving toward the cage and hitting the top shelf for the goal. The Easton, Pa. native collected a hat trick in just the first 15 minutes. Gragnani scored her first goal of the night in the opening quarter, picking up the draw control and taking it all the way to the house. Bea Buckley hit the back of the net twice in the quarter, with Kate Marona adding one.
The Dragons scored all three of their second quarter goals in the final 90 seconds. Gragnani and Finley went back-to-back before Teagan Quinn collected the first goal of her career. Buckley set up the freshman, who put away the shot just in front of the cage with under ten seconds left on the clock.
DU only tallied twice in the third quarter, with Drake and Gragnani each scoring. Caroline Lennon also earned her first career score in the fourth quarter. Gragnani hit the Drexel newcomer off the free position shot for the tally. Kate Quinn also scored got home for the first time this season.
