PHILADELPHIA — The Drexel women's lacrosse team fell to No. 21/23 Penn State Sunday morning, 16-3. The Dragons drop to 2-2 on the season, with both losses coming to ranked opponents.
The Nittany Lions opened the game with eight unanswered goals in the first quarter, with seven different players collecting tallies. The scoring continued into the second quarter, as Penn State added four more strikes as they took a 12-0 advantage into the half.
Drexel managed to hold the Nittany Lions to just one goal in the third quarter. PSU scored two minutes into the second half, but the Dragons answered with a pair of goals from Anne Madden and Kate Quinn.
Penn State finished the fourth quarter on a 3-1 run, with Maddie Kane scoring the first goal of her career.
The Dragons leave the city of Philadelphia for the time on Saturday, February 28, as Drexel takes on Fairfield. Action is set for 1 p.m.
