New Haven, Conn. - The Drexel golf team looks to continue its solid spring when it heads to New England this weekend. The Dragons start the weekend at the Yale Spring Invitational on Saturday. The tournament will be a one-day event with each player playing 36 holes.
The Invitational will be played at The Course at Yale, which was designed by Charles Blair Macdonald, the co-founder of the USGA. He worked in collaboration with Seth Raynor and Charles Banks and the course officially opened for play in 1926. The Course at Yale plays at 6,825 yards and is a par 70. The Dragons will be competing against a number of highly-competitive teams from the Northeast. The schools scheduled to compete are Brown, Bucknell, Colgate, Cornell, Fairfield, Fordham, George Washington, Penn, Siena, St. Francis, St. John's and the hosts from Yale.
Drexel, which narrowly missed picking up its third win of the 2016-17 season earlier in the week at the Finegan Invitational, has been playing well this spring. The Dragons have two second-place finishes in their last two outings. Head Coach Ben Feld will send the same five players on the New England trip, which also includes a visit to Rhode Island for the URI Invitational on Monday. Yoseph Dance, who has played his last 54 holes at two-under-par, leads the way. He will be joined by Michael Cook, Aaron Fricke, Adam Mistretta and Connor Schmidt.
