ANNAPOLIS, MD - The No. 18 Drexel women's lacrosse team handed the No. 21 Navy Midshipmen their second loss of the season in a dominant offensive performance. The Dragons nine-goal first half helped them on their way to a 17-8 victory to improve to 9-1 on the season.
OVERVIEW
* The Dragons offense got to work early, putting their first score on the board in the opening 30 seconds of the game. Drexel's leading scorer Karson Harris sank her 37th goal of the season at 29:29. Teammate Corinne Bednarik continued to keep the Mids defense on their toes, with a score of her own three minutes later.
* Harris netted her second of the day on an assist from Colleen Grady. The senior midfielder opened the door for teammates Lucy Schneidereith and Cara Moreau to post a pair of goals only a minute apart to open the Dragons lead to five.
* Drexel had four athletes tally two goals in the first half, while also scoring three straight goals in less than three minutes.
* Grady found her groove in the final minutes of the half, sinking back-to-back goals to add to her two assists. The senior completed the hat-trick at 16:37 in the second.
* A six-goal second half by the Mids closed the gap to the smallest margin since the 13-minute mark of the first half but the Dragons offense kept pushing back.
* Schneidereith found the back of the net three more times in the second to lead the Dragons in goals with five. The Schneidereith sisters were a dominant duo in the second half as Jamie Schneidereith found two goals of her own as well.
* Bennett gave Drexel the advantage they needed in net, recording 11 saves through 60 minutes.
HIGHLIGHTS
* The Dragons victory marks their fourth straight win.
* Grady's five points moved her past the 200th career points mark, only the third player in program history to do so.
* Schneidereith led the day with five goals on nine total shots. This is the third time this season that Schneidereith has recorded a five-goal game. The senior also added two ground balls and one caused turnover.
* Grady, Schneidereith and Harris each had 3+ goal performances, tallying 12 of the Dragon's 17 points. Harris had a team-high five ground balls and four draw controls.
* Jamie Schneidereith and Bednarik each found the back of the net twice.
