200 Free Relay Team makes History; Drexel Jumps to Third at 2022 CAA Championships

CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. - The Drexel women's swimming and diving team jumped to third place on day three of the 2022 Colonial Athletic Association championships. The Dragons used a six-medal Friday night at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center in Christiansburg, Va. to set themselves up to finish the championship strong on Saturday.
Victoria Palochik represented the Dragons in the A final of the 100 fly. She earned the bronze with a time of 54.98.
Maddie Riley earned her second medal of the four-day meet. The junior earned another bronze after finishing third in the 400 IM with a time of 4:24.72.
Chelsea Gravereaux placed second in the 200 free with a time of 1:47.78, a new program record. The 200 free also featured Paige Powell, who made the A final after a preliminary time of 1:50.75. The London native placed eighth in the event.
Megan Sicinski finished third in the 100 breast to earn the bronze. The senior swam a 1:02.49 in the race to win her third medal of the championships. Her Drexel teammate, Lera Nasedkina placed fourth in the event with a time of 1:03.05.
Fede Nocera won her first individual medal of her career in the 100 back. The freshman won the silver after swimming a time of 54.69. Aldercy Bui swam a 55.80 in the preliminaries to make the A final, where she placed fifth.
The 200 free relay team won the gold, the first ever first-place finish in the 200 free relay for the Drexel women's program. The team consisted of Nasedkina, Ryann Styer, Palochik and Gravereaux posted a time of 1:31.46, a new program record to conclude the night.
The final day of the championship meet begins at 10 a.m. Diving preliminaries begin at 12:30 p.m. and the finals are in the evening at 6 p.m.
