PHILADELPHIA - The Drexel men's lacrosse begins Colonial Athletic Association play on Saturday against Towson. Drexel will look to defend its CAA crown against the team that won the previous CAA championship. The game is sponsored by The Study at University City.
THE SERIES
The Tigers lead the series, 46-12. Towson had won eight straight games against the Dragons before Drexel won both meetings in 2021. Last year in Philadelphia, Sean Donnelly had seven points to lead DU to a 12-10 win. In the rematch in Maryland, Jack Mulcahy scored with 11 seconds to play to give Drexel a 12-11 victory. Mulcahy and Reid Bowering each had hat tricks for DU. James Avanzato had five points for Towson.
ABOUT DREXEL
Drexel begins CAA play with a 4-4 record. The Dragons are coming off a heartbreaking 15-14 loss at Robert Morris on Saturday. Drexel battled back from a three-goal fourth quarter deficit to tie the game, but the Colonials scored with 1:32 to play to take the lead. The Dragons had a few chances late but could not score as the Colonials escaped with the win. Max Semple scored seven times and had an assist. His seven goals were the most for a Drexel player since Reid Bowering had seven against Michigan in 2019.

Jack Mulcahy is second in the CAA in assists per game and has 25 points. Aidan Coll and Ryan Genord each have 22 points. Ross Blumenthal returned to the cage against Robert Morris. The senior has a .566 save percentage.
