Dragons Takedown #14 Hofstra in 5-4 Thriller
10/5/2024 5:48:00 PM | Men's Soccer
It is the first time since Drexel's inaugural season in the CAA in 2002, that the team has scored five goals in back-to-back matches.
The scoring started in the ninth minute after an unlucky bounce resulted in a handball in the box, which allowed a penalty kick for the Pride. Eoin Farrell converted the try and gave the visitors the early advantage.
In the 22nd minute, a shot by Dominick Bachstein was saved and deflected to the feet of Omar Jallow. The freshman took full advantage of the opportunity and buried the shot to tie the match at one. The goal is Jallow's first of his career.

Five minutes later, Hofstra took the lead again. It was the last lead Hofstra would have.
In the 36th minute, Patrick Short played a ball into the box and found Bachstein who made a perfectly timed run to get behind the defense. Left alone, Bachstein buried his first goal of the game. Less than a minute later, a ball played into the box by Cesar Banacloy beat the Hofstra keeper and found a sliding Short who pushed the ball into the net.

The Dragons took the lead in 76th minute. Short took the ball to the goal line and took a strike on goal, the Hofstra Keeper then deflected the ball to Bachstein who poked in his second goal of the game. With two goals in the contest, Bachstein pushed his season total to eight goals. It is also the third multi-goal match of the season for Bachstein.

The Dragons did not take a break. Less than three minutes later, Bachstein and Giancarlo Vaccaro caught Hofstra off guard and had a 2-on-1 breakaway. A cross from Bachstein set Vaccaro up for a shot on goal, and the graduate student took it, scoring the game-winner. The goal is Vaccaro's first of the season. The assist pushed Bachstein's total points to six, ending the match with two goals and two assists.
