Old Dominion Shuts Out Men's Soccer 3-0

Norfolk, Va. - Old Dominion's Nane Joseph delivered a goal and two assists in a 3-0 shutout of the Dragons on Friday night in Virginia. The loss drops Drexel to 5-10-1 on the season and 1-7-1 in CAA play. Rookie keeper Tres Heffron got the start in net and stopped three shots. The Dragons were blanked despite being edged by just one shot (11-10) by the Monarchs (10-4-2, 5-3-2 CAA).
Joseph scored with 2:30 left in the first half on an assist from freshman Mars Keomahavong off a corner kick. Just over a minute later, Joseph fed Yannick Smith on a through ball to the goal that gave ODU a 2-0 lead at halftime.
In the second half, Joseph fed Shane Howard to give the Monarchs their third goal of the night.
ODU keeper Evan Newton register his eighth shutout of the season. Newton had five saves on the night.
The Dragons are back in action on Monday when they take on UNC Wilmington at noon in North Carolina.
