PHILADELPHIA - The Drexel men's soccer team will look to keep its positive play going on Wednesday as they return home to host CAA rival Delaware at Vidas Field at 7:00 p.m. The Dragons are 1-0-1 in their past two games, conference matchups against George Mason and Towson, having put together shutouts in both contests. Pentti Pussinen, the Dragons' sophomore goalkeeper, was named the Philly Soccer Six Co-Player of the Week for his part in the two shutouts.
Most recently, Drexel claimed a 2-0 victory over Towson on Saturday afternoon. Ken Tribbett scored on a penalty kick after Malcolm LeBourne was taken down in the box in the game's fifth minute, giving the Dragons a 1-0 lead. That held up for much of the game, with Pussinen making a momentum-shifting, diving glove save with less than 10 minutes remaining to preserve the advantage. In the 85th minute, Mark Donohue notched his first goal of the season to seal the win.
Drexel is facing one of its oldest rivals on Wednesday when they take on Delaware. The Dragons have traditionally controlled the series with the Blue Hens, holding a 35-18-6 edge all-time. However, Drexel has not defeated Delaware since a 3-0 victory in 2007, going 0-2-1 in the three years since.
Kick off is set for 7:00 p.m. Wednesday.
